New Neighbours

I was all alone at home, watching TV when the doorbell rang. My mom had told me not to open the door till she arrived home, so I ignored it and turned the TV volume down a little bit. Still, the doorbell continued to ring. I went to the door and looked through the peephole. A middle aged man stood outside, with a wide smile on his face. I opened the door. The man smiled widely when he saw me.

"Hello, young man. I've just moved into this town and am new to the place. Could you call your mother for me?" I narrowed my eyes at him. "My mother's not home." I said slowly. His eyes went very round. "Oh!" He exclaimed, and continued, "Well, I think I'll just be going then. Stay safe, young man." I closed the door quickly and went back to watching TV. Before I knew it, I was sound asleep.

I awoke to the sound of the doorbell ringing again. I looked at the clock. It was only seven o' clock, but my mom said she'd come by nine. I went to the door and looked through the peehole. It was the creepy man again. I was about to open the door, but instead I put on the chain first. To this day, I don't know why I did that, but I'm glad I did. After the chain was put in securely, I unlocked the door, and immediately it was pushed back. I fell to the ground due to the force. I saw that the man was trying to get into my house. He stuck out his hand for the chqin, but instinctively, I hurried forward and pushed the door right into his arm.

He let out a shriek of pain. I kept pushing the door back , and eventually, overpowered him. But he didn't go back. He slouched down by my window, and kept calling out to me, begging me to let him in. I phoned my mom, and she called the police, who arrived at the scene five minutes later. The man, who was a bit late to react, tried to run away, but two officers knocked him to the ground. He screamed and struggled before he was finally pushed into a car. My mom arrived right then, and after a brief discussion with a cop, she came into the house. It turned out that the man was a serial killer on the loose. I have never seen the man since. And I'm glad I put the chain on before opening the door.
