Adam sat in his seat, grinning madly. No one had noticed Adam was acting oddly, except for Avey. He had been watching Adam for quite a while now, and he noticed an odd aura surrounding him. He had noticed he always hid his right hand with his left, and always seemed a bit uncomfortable when someone stared at him for too long.
It was Math class. Avey, who was more interested in watching Adam, kept his eye on him. The teacher called for Adam, who looked taken aback and let go of his right hand. It was then that Avey noticed the blood-red ring on his hand. It was shining brightly even in the sunlight, but no one else had noticed it. He covered it again with his hand, and then the class resumed without any oddities.
After school, Avey headed down to his locker and found a newspaper lying on the floor. "13 more people found dead near Moon Cliff". This had been going on for a week now. Every day, thirteen people were found dead near Moon cliff, regardless of whether they had been the night before. No one seemed to understand what was going on, and even the Mayor had to look into the problem. Avey threw the paper aside, threw his bag into his locker, and put on his headphones. But then, he noticed something odd. Adam was sneaking away somewhere, checking his back every few seconds. Curious, Avey slammed his locker shut and bolted after him.
He followed Adam to the town's abandoned circus, and when he jumped in, Avey hesitated. He knew the rumors about the dark place and about how bad spirits were roaming the place. Mustering up courage, he jumped in and sneaked his way about the place. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched Adam go into a nearby tent. As he approached it, he heard angry hissing. He looked in to see Adam arguing with a large shadowy figure, but they weren't speaking. They were hissing. The shadowy figure raised a large disfigured hand, but Adam slapped it away and hissed again.
Utterly perplexed, Avey began to rethink his little trip and headed back to the gates. He left soon, with questions popping in and out of his brain. He reached home and began his homework and by the time he was done, it was evening. He rolled around the room on his chair and he suddenly hit his old cupboard. An old and musty book fell on his head. Rubbing his head, he began reading.
“This town is way worse than I could have ever imagined. The locals are ignorant of the true horror that lies dormant over here. They know nothing about the Grizzlies Circus at all…”
With each word, Avey felt his heart beat faster and faster. This was it. He had laid his hands on something incredible.
